Inspired largely in part by TED, a series of nonprofit global conferences pioneered by the Sapling Foundations to facilitate the spread of Ideas Worth Spreading, TAMS Talks is an event we hope will engrave itself into the many traditions of innovation, imagination, and intellectualism that set the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science apart from comparable academic institutions geared toward high school students. We are the TAMS Talks Team, and our ultimate goals are many and multifaceted, but fundamentally we strive to inspire confidence in our students both on stage and off, giving them a platform on which they can vocalize their passions, ideas, and inquiries and engage in thoughtful discussion with their peers about anything and everything worth talking about.

Feedback from our pilot event:
"I thought it was a great program that should be continued every year from now on. This kind of forum encourages thought, action, and inspires students. It helps me with the presentation of my ideas of what I truly feel strongly about and allows me to develop better ways to communicate my ideas to others and make a difference in the world. I appreciate the input and feedback from the judges and I will use it to my benefit in the future. Overall, I loved this experience and I hope TAMS continues these Talks for years to come."

So what is TAMS Talks, anyway?
Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not that one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one's ideas, to take a calculated risk, and to act.
